Enterprise

As I wrap up the Mustang diorama, I’m preparing new projects. Among these is dusting off an old 1/350 scale kit from Polar Lights of the Enterprise from Star Trek. I was dazzled by the Enterprise when I was a little kid watching The Motion Picture in 1979. So, finally, many years later, I can build a model of this thing and light it up.

The kit is basic but requires a lot of tweaking and polishing in terms of construction. In addition, I will wire it up with LEDs from Evan Designs. Once built, the plan is to paint it using metallic colors followed by a fair amount of super detailing and weathering. I will not be using the film as a reference, as this will be my interpretation of what the Enterprise might actually look if it we real.

Interestingly, I’ll be building this concurrently with the Moebius 1/48 scale Aries-1 lunar shuttle.

The first photo is pretty underwhelming. But one has to start somewhere.
